ABSTRACT

Older adults have been more dependent upon the information and communication technology while they have recently sticked to the ‘social distancing’ policy due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, they had worse abilities and less means to access to digital devices than the younger age groups, and less competence to utilize the devices even they succeeded to access to them. They are getting more isolated socially owing to the digital divide. Therefore, it was roughly reviewed the effects of the digital divide on daily life, the changes in the quality of life in old age due to the digital divide, and the older adults’ capabilities of utilizing smart devices and digital information in this study. Finally, a variety of ways were proposed to resolve the digital divide for the older adults in the discussion.
