A Qualitative Study on Physical Rehabilitative Programs for Older Adults with Disability

ABSTRACT

This study aimed to develop effective and distinctive physical fitness programs for older adults withdisability. This study also intended to find a way of approaching to the programs and alternative policy.The participants were 10 persons who were at least 55 years old, were physically disabled, and had brainlesions. They were interviewed at least five times, each one lasting about 1.5 hours. The interview datawere analyzed by the grounded theory. Over 130 concepts were from the initial open coding, while theaxial coding found out a number of components such as cause and effect, contextual and conciliatoryconditions, phenomenon, and action and interaction. The main category was “active participation throughcommunication based on supporting system and owner spirit,” and three types of ‘satisfaction’,‘expectation’, and ‘dissatisfaction’ were classified in the category.
