ABSTRACT

One of the major problems that most of the modern agingsocieties should deal with is elder abuse. The purpose of thisstudy is to introduce the prevalence, definition, and types of theelder abuse, consequences that victims of the elder abuseexperience, elder abuse occurring in institutional settings, and thecharacteristics of perpetrators and victims of the elder abuse. Avariety of intervention and preventive strategies for the elder abusewere also described. Great emphasis on educational approaches andfinancial support for the approaches was placed in oder to dispelage discrimination.
