ABSTRACT

The primary factors for successful aging would be to maintainhigher physical and cognitive functioning across the life coursewhile minimizing health risks and disability. It could make oldadults maintain independence until the end of their life. Ways tosuccessful aging might be dependent upon choosing the healthylife styles rather than inherited factors. The phenomena ofdeclining or dropping in cognitive performance at the end of lifewould be found from many old adults, and it is predictive ofmortality risk. The phenomena have several meanings that theymight have suffered from at least a couple of chronic diseases andmight not concern about health for the second half of their lifewhile they were young. The concept of the terminal cognitivedecline was discussed in the context of the successful aging andits association with chronic diseases in this paper.
